This project is currently active and engaged in Tijuana, MX in support of refugees seeking asylum at the crux of the San Ysidro/Tijuana port of crossing. The day starts at dawn, carting herbal teas to the bridge which connects ‘California’ and ‘Mexico’ to serve the few hundred people standing in line daily in attempt to receive an asylum number or in hopes to hear their number being called.

Media coverage is absent. 

On October 12th 2018, upwards of a thousand people, mostly Honduran, across all spectrums of age, ability and identity, began walking to the US border seeking asylum. The current estimate has grown to 8,000+ asylum seekers in Tijuana currently living in shelters and on the street hailing from Guatemala, Venezuela, Haiti, Chile, Cameroon, Belize, and Russia. The goal is to find liberation from the crises of their homelands; drug wars, military coups, genocide, destruction of indigenous lands for the gain of corporations and environmental catastrophe in the region.

People suffer from chronic and acute conditions, including communicable and infectious disease and the effects of prolonged trauma and displacement. We confluence with doctors, nurses and other volunteers at various shelters and safe houses every week. Self-care stations stocked from privately funded apothecaries, as well as triage and clinical consult is offered. As a self-funded non-profit, consciousness of environmental impact is crucial and funds for sustainable materials are continuously raised. Fuck styrofoam and plastic. Herbal medicines are made every evening.
